Announcing Bokuten – Why I Became an Angel

bokuten

We at MangaGamer are proud to announce our acquisition of Bokuten – Why I Became an Angel from OVERDRIVE!

What is happiness?

“Having nothing, means having nothing to lose.”

In this cold, cruel world where happiness is finite, and the pursuit is fraught with pain and suffering, what does it really mean to be happy? Love? The absence of pain?

If you were gifted with the ability to revive fading loves, would you choose to do so? Would you let them all play out? Would you try reviving all of them? Or would you pick and choose, deciding which love, which happiness was worth trying to save? What about your own?

Join us for the brand-new challenge from OVERDRIVE featuring a brand-new art style and a story that eschews typical archetypes to deliver a deep, heart-wrenching tale of love and happiness with a realistic bite!

  1. Bokuten, huh? Heard a lot of people complaining about it, but most of the arguments they used are actually making this title more interesting to me. A definite buy.

  2. I kind of knew it was inevitable because it’s an Overdrive title, but it’s good to have confirmation.

  3. Well, this is not a big surprise, but I’m still happy to see that you are going to import this title.
It makes me a bit sad to know that it bombed in Japan – it seems that the market over there doesn’t like innovation and prefers the same old school club story.

  4. Is this the same artist trying out a new style or a complete new one?

  5. hmm sounds pretty interesting to me…

  6. Nice news, looking forward to this! 🙂

  7. I was wondering if/when you’d translate this one – I will most certainly end up buying it if my games library is something to go off. 🙂

  8. First Mangagamer’s title that I am looking forward to read in a while.

  9. Yay! New art-style! Not to hate on the normal Overdrive look, but it’s nice to have a fresh style.

  10. I thought this was going to be dear drops secuel, a music game, but this is a whole an other thing. But is fine, the theme seems prety interesting i’m looking for it.

  11. This might be the first Overdrive title I pick up. Typically the art and music themes don’t interest me. Here the art and “exploration of the meaning of happiness” theme seems more compelling.

  12. This looks like OVERDRIVE is going to have another hit as far as im concerned cant wait to sink my hard earned money into buying it 🙂

  13. It seems to be a nakige ^^

  14. Will it be digital only, or also released as hardcopy? Love to have games on my shelves

  15. do you have and estimated time on when will this game being released ?

    • I realize this reply is really late at this point, but no, no real ETA on when this will be released just yet.

  16. Any updates on this game? Really looking forward to it, but I dont know how long I have to wait 🙁

    • Last I heard, translator took a break to work on eden.

    • Yeah, I know I’m replying to this pretty late, but since I saw it, figured I’d reply. My personal goal is to have the initial translation done by the end of the year. My guess is it will be out sometime mid-2015?

Sorry for the wait, but it’ll be worth it!

  17. Hi, not sure if the messages are now being done in another location i looked at the status on the blog showing 100% trans. and edit. likely meaning there is now the qc(quality check) or something along those lines that still needs to be done. If so, can you give a new ETA regarding the time of it’s release? since it has be nearly two years since the post answering/commenting on the questing.

    • Hi there!

Bokuten is indeed out of translation and edit, and has moved onto the porting phase before it can reach our testing team. That’s all the information we can really give right now, but we’ll do our best to update everyone very soon!

  18. Any new news on this games ETA?

  19. Man, still waiting for this game to release. I played Cho Dengeki Stryker and it became one of my favorite VN’s. So if bokuten ever comes out, I’ll give it a try.

  20. Any info on the progress?

  21. sooooooo… why is this game such a problem that its taken 4+ years to release? you should have just done Green Green Overdrive
