This is Petals series producer Mi Kara Deta Saba. This will be my last discussion about certain day-to-day particulars you become aware of as a yuri game producer. I hope you’ll enjoy hearing about all the subtle differences between yuri games and male/female romance stories.

A World Overflowing with Yuri
Although one of the concepts behind the Petals series was “no entanglements with male characters,” the truth is, past works actually have featured male characters, after a fashion.
…I hasten to say that they had no romantic involvement, and were limited to just fathers and brothers (lol).
Now then, you may be wondering, “Why exclude male characters entirely?” and as producer, I would respond that the world in the Petals games is not entirely devoid of males, but that I wanted it to be a world where romance between two girls was recognized as natural.
Girls like other girls of their own volition. Therefore, the girls in the world of yuri think of their partners as anything but male-substitutes. That means handsome, somewhat masculine girls are unnecessary, as is masculine sex appeal.
This is also linked to another concept behind the Petals series, which is “no adult toys,” and if you’ll excuse my language… the concept of “penetration” doesn’t even exist in the yuri vocabulary, in my opinion.
…So, why exactly was it that I took this opportunity to write at length about certain day-to-day particulars you become aware of as a yuri game producer?
The Petals series was born out of seeing that there weren’t all that many yuri works out there, and nine years ago proclaiming, “I’ll just make my own then!”
Today, yuri is exploding to the point that you can’t even say it’s in the minority anymore, and I personally couldn’t be more thrilled.
