Greetings! While this is my first time testing Higurashi, I’m also the main editor on the series and have been since starting Watanagashi almost a year ago. Let me tell you, I’m grateful for the experience, because the thing about editing a game without having played the result is that no matter how good you are, there are things you’re going to miss. The longer the game, the more those errors increase exponentially… so it’s always good to take the chance to confirm what your efforts will look like in the final product. In this chapter, Watanagashi (“Cotton Drift”) Keiichi encounters a brand-new mystery in Hinamiazawa – Shion Sonozaki. Who exactly is Shion? Is she really Mion’s twin sister? I cannot begin to explain how excited I was when I heard the next title I would get to sink my teeth into was Higurashi. Years ago, it was my obsession, my “curse” you might even say. Higurashi was not the kind of game I was expecting it to be. I didn’t really know much about it going in other than it being a horror series. Based on that I had assumed there would be a lot of murdering going on, but in reality it was more of a slice of life comedy with an occasional murder and some mystery elements thrown in.
