Umineko Episode 1 – Tester’s Corner Ed. 1

uminekoss1

Like many others, Umineko was a title that introduced me to the world of visual novels. Many people are familiar with Higurashi, whether it’s because of the anime or visual novel, and want more of the horror/mystery that its story is often characterized by. It’s not hard to come across Umineko as it’s another work by 07th Expansion, and it’s certainly a spiritual successor to Higurashi. There are even references made to the latter! Continue reading

Higurashi Ch. 3 Tatarigoroshi – Tester’s Corner Vol. 1

higu3

Greetings! While this is my first time testing Higurashi, I’m also the main editor on the series and have been since starting Watanagashi almost a year ago. Let me tell you, I’m grateful for the experience, because the thing about editing a game without having played the result is that no matter how good you are, there are things you’re going to miss. The longer the game, the more those errors increase exponentially… so it’s always good to take the chance to confirm what your efforts will look like in the final product. Expert advice from a professional here to all you prospective editor folks! Continue reading

The House in Fata Morgana: Tester’s Corner Vol. 1

top

Hello everyone, I’d once again like to thank MangaGamer for letting me participate in the beta test for The House in Fata Morgana, as well as BlackDragonHunt and Ritobito for translating and editing this fantastic game. It’s the first Novectacle game to be localized and what a way to start out in the west! Continue reading

Tokyo Babel Tester’s Corner Vol. 2

tokyobabel

Some say that the main selling point is the all star voice acting cast, however Tokyo Babel‘s writing is what sold me on it. There was never a wasted actor who only had a few lines because their character was irrelevant. Sometimes the only thing I feel the characters are lacking are their noses in certain poses and CG graphics. Characters that show up in just one route are fleshed out and at times its hard to tell that major side characters aren’t even considered main characters. Even now I can’t decide my favorite character between the heroine Kugutsu Sorami or the side character Camael.

Tokyo Babel Tester’s Corner Vol. 1

tokyobabel

Hello, this is Xarrias, and this is my fifth Tester’s Corner for MangaGamer. Tokyo Babel is our first release from Propeller, and I could tell right off the bat that this was going to be interesting. I’ve always enjoyed seeing Japanese takes on Christian mythology, from Evangelion to Shin Megami Tensei. Notably, this visual novel is written by Higashide Yuuichirou. Why is this name important? Well, after finishing this, he ended up collaborating with TYPE-MOON, writing such works as Fate/Apocrypha and collaborating on Fate/Grand Order. Fate/Stay Night is what got me into visual novels in the first place, so that just made me doubly excited for what lay ahead. Continue reading

Free Friends 2 – Tester’s Corner Vol. 2

Title ImageYoho~ Rance-sama here! I’d just like start by saying that Free Friends 2 is actually a very high quality Nukige. The story and plot feel much more invested in rather than just being a means to an end for the H scenes. It really does an excellent job of getting you attached to the characters, so it can rip your heart out, stomp on it, and Tidus laugh in your face. When vndb tags Free Friends 2 with “Depression” and “Evil Route”, it’s not messing around. You have the Pure Love Route and the Depravity/Corruption Route, so all you softies out there can still enjoy your romance while the rest of us sick motherfuckers get to enjoy something so malicious and twisted that it would make even the evil otter pleased. Everybody wins! Especially the otter. Continue reading

A Kiss For The Petals: Remembering How We Met – Tester’s Corner

FacebookPR_OnSaleNow-450x376

Hello again everybody! Ryechu here, and I did the Windows 10 and Steam betatesting for A Kiss For The Petals – Remembering How We Met!

So you may notice that this title is… a lot different from my previous testing gig. Like, a lot a lot. For those who aren’t aware, I am a HUGE fan of the Sono Hanabira series, and when I heard that Mangagamer was localizing even one of the titles, I knew that I needed to work on this. I REALLY hope you enjoy this touching love story between what could very well be the cutest couple to ever grace St. Michael’s All-Girls School.

A Kiss for the Petals is actually a rather popular yuri nukige series released by Fuguriya starting in 2006.  Many consider it to be the best yuri VN series out on the market today, and there’s a damn good reason for that, too. Each of the, count ‘em, nineteen games is extremely popular and the production values are second to none. The art is phenomenal, the music is memorable, and the characters are equally memorable, not to mention insanely cute.

This specific title, Remembering How We Met, was originally released for Android and iOS, and explores how the relationship between Azumi Risa and Ayase Miya began. Risa, our pink-haired protagonist, is a very stubborn girl who has natural leadership qualities, and insists on having a perfect attendance record. Ayase, on the other hand, is the polar opposite in everything except stubbornness – though hers resides from the fact that she’s a genius and doesn’t have to go to class at all.

The story evolves from that one key point, and through a number of twists and turns, oftentimes comical dialogue, and just enough drama to make you want to keep reading, Remembering How We Met is a fantastic addition to the series, and I can’t wait to see what everybody thinks about it!

I had a lot of fun working on this project, and I really look forward to helping bring out more amazing titles with Mangagamer!
